Replacement of CSX and Norfolk Southern RR Bridges Over I-77, Cuyahoga County, Ohio News Release...  

CUY-271-0.00, Cuyahoga/Summit Counties, OH 

PGI started a geotechnical subsurface exploration for the CUY-271-0.00 project (Phase 2) in February 2013. We were retained by DLZ to perform a geotechnical subsurface exploration services. Present plans call for design and construction of I-271 along median for realignment, retaining walls, noise walls and new bridges along I-480 ramp in addition to widening existing bridges along I-271 in both directions from approximately the Summit/Cuyahoga County line to Miles Road.  Our scope of services include advancing a total of 172 structural soil borings for bridges, retaining walls, noise walls, and roadway, providing traffic control equipment and personnel during the drilling operations, and obtaining soil samples for sulfate testing along median of I-271. Also included is a detailed subsurface exploration report, which include recommendations for structure foundations, earthwork considerations, groundwater management, and construction monitoring. 
CLE-Hopkins Parking Redevelopment

Pro Geotech, Inc. was retained by Parsons Brinckerhoff to perform a geotechnical subsurface exploration services for the CLE-Hopkins Parking Redevelopment. This is a design build project and Kokosing is the main contactor.  The improvements will be made to two separate parking lots located along the north side of the Upper Airport Drive and to the east and west of Park Road.  In addition to the parking lot improvements, a three-story building will be constructed along the west side of the existing long-term parking garage to carry pedestrians from ground level up to the existing sky-walk. Our scope of services included advancing a total of 11 structural and roadway soil borings in the vicinity of the existing structure and parking lots. Also included is a detailed subsurface exploration report, which include recommendations for structure foundations, earthwork considerations, groundwater management, and construction monitoring. 
 

Cedar Avenue Replacement, Cleveland, OH  

Pro Geotech, Inc. was retained by TranSystems Corporation to perform a geotechnical subsurface exploration services for Cedar Ave Replacement from East 55th St. to E. 89th St. in Cleveland, Ohio.  Plans call for the removal and reconstruction of the existing pavement, curb, sidewalk, drive aprons, adding ADA compliant curb ramps and landings, reconstructing tree lawns, adjusting and/or rebuilding various agencies owned utility structures, castings and drainage system on existing or new alignment and profile. The total project length is approximately 7,400 feet. The project plan also includes replacing existing water line with 12 inch water line from East 79th Street to East 89th Street, installing porous pavement on the tree lawns both side of Cedar Avenue. Our scope of services include advancing a total of 20 roadway soil boring and 2 infilteration tests in the field and providing MOT for field operations.  Also included is a detailed subsurface exploration report, which include recommendations for Roadway, watermain foundations, earthwork considerations, groundwater management, and construction monitoring. 
Replacement of Cedar Avenue Bridge No. 229 over Doan Brook

PGI started a geotechnical subsurface exploration for the improvement of Cedar Avenue Bridge No. 229 over Doan Brook in Cleveland Ohio in February 2013. We were retained by Palmer Engineering to work as a sub-consultant to fulfill the geotechnical needs of this project. Cuyahoga County is the owner of the project. The existing structure is approximately 100 years old and I buried under Cedar Road.  Our scope of services included advancing a total of six structural soil borings in the vicinity of the existing structure to approximate depth of 30-35 feet each below the existing ground surface, providing traffic control equipment and personnel during the drilling operations, and obtaining a total of six pavement cores from the pavement near and above the structure. Also included is a detailed subsurface exploration report, which include recommendations for structure foundations, earthwork considerations, groundwater management, and construction monitoring.
